Prerequisites for Mount Fay

Before attempting to reach the Faydown Cloak, ensure you have these essential abilities:

1

Clawline (Grappling Hook)

Absolutely essential for Mount Fay navigation. Found in The Cauldron area of the Underworks. Without this, you cannot progress through Mount Fay's vertical sections.

2

Swift Step (Air Dash)

Required for crossing gaps and avoiding environmental hazards. The dash provides crucial momentum for platforming sequences.

3

Drifter's Cloak (Glide)

Helps with precision platforming and extending jump distance. Essential for navigating Mount Fay's challenging sections.

4

Wall Jump Mastery

You must be comfortable with wall jumping mechanics, as Mount Fay features extensive vertical climbing sections.

Step-by-Step Faydown Cloak Guide

1

Getting Captured

Navigate to the top-right section of Deep Docks and locate a Wardenfly enemy. Intentionally allow it to capture you by letting it trap you in sticky globules. Do not fight back - this is the only way to access Mount Fay.

  • The Wardenfly will jump toward Hornet and place her in a sac
  • You'll be transported to The Slab prison area
  • This is completely intentional and part of the progression
2

Escaping The Slab

Navigate through The Slab prison to escape and reach Mount Fay. Avoid unnecessary combat to conserve health for the challenges ahead.

  • Recover your equipment from the guards
  • Re-equip all crests, tools, and items
  • Exit leads directly to Mount Fay base
3

Surviving the Cold

Mount Fay's extreme cold is your primary enemy. You have 20 seconds before taking damage, then damage accelerates rapidly.

  • Plan routes between warming lanterns
  • Never attempt long sequences without a clear path to warmth
  • Submerged water areas cause faster damage
  • Speed is essential - hesitation can be fatal
4

Navigating to the Summit

The ascent to the Faydown Cloak requires mastering complex platforming sequences:

  • Use Clawline to grapple onto enemies, walls, and rings
  • Master wall jump timing on crumbling platforms
  • Avoid spike traps while managing cold damage
  • Utilize all abilities in combination for maximum efficiency
5

Claiming the Faydown Cloak

At Mount Fay's summit, you'll find an ancient altar. Interact with it to trigger the Faydown Cloak sequence.

  • A majestic bird will descend from above
  • The bird grants you the Faydown Cloak
  • Double jump ability is immediately available
  • Test the ability before leaving the summit

Advanced Platforming Techniques

Master these techniques for Mount Fay success:

Clawline Mastery

The Clawline consumes silk, which regenerates slowly unless you hit enemies. Plan your grappling sequences carefully and maintain full silk when possible.

Momentum Conservation

Use dash at the peak of jumps for maximum distance. Chain wall jumps to maintain upward momentum without losing speed.

Cold Management

Count your time away from warming sources. If you're not making progress after 15 seconds, retreat to the nearest lantern and reassess your approach.

Emergency Tactics

If health is critically low, prioritize reaching warmth over perfect platforming. It's better to restart a section than lose significant progress.
